the theme to the peanuts (charlie brown and friends).

Several commenters to this video's viewer comment thread correct the title of this tune. This comment provides information about the musician:

NegaHedgehog- This song is called Linus and Lucy, originally written by Vince Guaraldi.

This is the remake from George Winston, from the 1996 album "Linus and Lucy: The Music from Vince Guaraldi".

Again, this song is the remake, not the original one.

twister45672 - You cant beat the Classics baby..

****
JAMurida1- True that my friend... true that.

****
nyrebel1- God bless you Charles Schultz

****
tatertots725- god bless you Vince Guraldi

****
OliverEByrne - That piece of music is just so wonderful, never get tiered of it!

****
stevepwood- Is this not the happiest piece of music ever written? It's a shame that this has become a generational song - the children today don't even know who the Peanuts are.

****
bowcuttball22 - I KNOW WHO THE PEANUTS ARE!!

****
TheRisingSunshine- I think that's a fairly unfair statement. I'm fifteen and I've collected a very large number of Peanuts merchandise and memorabilia. It's hard to find a Peanuts comic that I haven't already read. Also, I'm currently reading the book "Shultz and Peanuts: A Biography." There are still members of the younger generation that truly adore the Peanuts.

****
jodamana - @stevepwood I´m from Portugal and we know peanuts very well. Peanuts are huge world wide....

****
fenderdiva- I love how they dance to this song lol

****
Scorpion1977 - Decided to add this one to my Jazz playlist...even though this is a theme song for a kid's show, it's a classic...and it's still jazz...still remember watching "Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown" and "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"...ditto what Zot64 said, it only gets old if you let it...thank you!

****
Phantom034 - This is why I wish life had background music. I could listen to this and never be sad.

zeelove8 - great song, fantastic classic, memories soooooo sweet, Peanuts for ever*)

****
jimraw1 - great Vince Guaraldi tune Linus and Lucy but NOT the Charlie Brown theme - there is another song that is actually called the Charlie Brown theme.

****
manule342 - do they still even show this like make new episodes

****
sleepyaznboi- @manule342 they had probably remake the episodes but they probably wouldnt make new episodes since the creator is dead

****
newguy90 -@sleepyaznboi

They were still making new specials even after Charles Schulz's death. The newest one was first aired on ABC 3 years ago. However, I don't know if things will change considering Bill Melendez, the head animator and voice of Snoopy for the past 50 years, died 2 years ago.

****
MNGorillaz -Peanuts rocks!!

****
GrooveyRoy23- I love Peanuts!

****
khdwkid- I got the sheet music to this a week ago and it is AWESOME!!!!!!!

****
NavyFlyer1325 - Of course, this theme is titled "Linus and Lucy", and was written by and originally performed by the phenomenal jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi and his trio. Great stuff!!

Getrealpeeps- Man, this takes me back (to when there was a radio station) KKSF, JAZZ 24/7, they somehow [messed] that up & put an old 70's rock & roll station (SUCKS) On the OLD Jazz station, they played this song ALL the time

****
Ignozi - What a relaxing theme! It's so nice to listen to.

****
84cruzazul - are those maracas or the shaker in the background i love that ahaha

****
Dragoon907- this is definetly a great song it opens up your inner child wow!

****
InflatableKMH - I love this song!!! Always brings me back to my childhood days of watching the peanuts gang cartoons as well as the movies that came out :D

****
ChiTownWarrior1- I have no idea why 36 other idiots dislike this song. This song is lengendary and is my childhood

****
pretorious700- @ChiTownWarrior1 Youtube is crawling with cynical, self-absorbed people with zero attention spans and total ignorance of music, history, or musical history.

If you dislike this song, it says way more about the person than the song.

****
MsNikki4lyf - i remember this back when i was little-- gosh id give anything to be little again.... ah.. well... sadly we have to get older.... and for some reason it remindes me of christmas XD but seriously i really miss those days...

****
feltwiener69- What a great piece of music. I hope Vince Guaraldi and Charles Schulz knew how many people they make happy everyday with their art.

****
arkady714- This comic strip is an institution and this excellent jazz piano number is its only true theme. Though many people can do many things and there is no one irreplaceable in this world, it still holds true that a single concept or artist or statesman will accomplish something timeless...something that cannot be reproduce. The imagination of Charles Schultz, the one that created Peanuts, is an example of this. It has gone and will forever go unmatched

****
kevinsoapboard - hmmm....is this the original version?

ithink not.

****
deadkandance- I always loved this song, even as a kid. It reminds me of when I used to look forward to the Charlie Brown specials, it was a huge deal because each one only came on once a year (this was before you could just buy stuff and play it when you liked). Always make me happy when I hear it.

****
whelljack - in south america snoppy is a cult cartoon

****
rev21v3n4- Love, love, love this. I miss you Charlie Brown...

****
K9MARK1- I live in the u.k and i loved Charlie Brown.

This music brings back a lot of childhood memories,

thanks for posting.

****
rehiredAFB - Thank you to the creators of this piece. It is truly among the more precious gifts we get in life for free. On behalf of my earliest memories, I am grateful.

****
falalaxfearless - i love this<3 i always wait for those thanksgiving and christmas peanuts specials! i'm a sophomore, and peanuts maybe outdated, but i think it's AWESOME!

****
RevHamRules - This isnt the theme...

****
NegaHedgehog- @RevHamRules

It's the Christmas Special Theme, and a remake made by George Winston.

****
NegaHedgehog - This song is called Linus and Lucy, originally written by Vince Guaraldi.

This is the remake from George Winston, from the 1996 album "Linus and Lucy: The Music from Vince Guaraldi".

Again, this song is the remake, not the original one.

****
Monkeychild41- They don't make music like this anymore.

****
xenomorph190- I do like that smoooth jazz. Big smile

****
lovelydiva06 - the creator of the peanuts or charlie brown lived here in minnesota so thats why there's camp snoopy at the mall of america and there were lots of random snoopy statues with different designs and stuff you could take pictures with down town st. paul, there's a real love for the peanuts and snoopy characters here, anyways love the theme song, i'm gonna use it as a ringtone

****
Orbot- @lovelydiva06 I almost envy you folks in Minnesota. You all had a timelss jewel in Mr. Schultz! Nobody makes kids cartoons like he did....NOBODY!!

****
RGLSfilms- Playing this in highschool band. this song will not exit my head.

****
mariokartloverds- I didn't know that there an extended version!

****
moeismyfriend - oh my this brings a LOT of good memories:)

i feel happy listening to this, it reminds me of the good Old days when i used to watch charlie brown episodes in the afternoon..... a big peaceful feeling comes to me when i listen to this<3

****
HandofDoom01- Why was this cartoon called Peanuts and not Charlie Brown?

****
[Editor: The following comment is edited because of Jambalayah's no profanity policy.]

SergeantLuke - @HandofDoom01 For some reason, Schulz's publisher insisted on that name. He never figured out why, or what the ... it meant.

But for the record, had he chosen his own title, it wouldn't have been "Charlie Brown", since Charlie Brown wasn't the main character at first (in fact, at first there wasn't one!).

****
tigerclaw1955 - @HandofDoom01 and Sergeant Luke: I think all the kids are "peanuts", as in a fond euphamism for "little kids". Haven't you ever heard a parent say to their very small child: "hey come over here you little peanut"? I have and it might be a southern euphamism.

****
backinblack333 - Charlie Brown, Lucy, Snoopy, Shroeder, PigPen, Peppermint Patty, Sally, Linus, Marcie, Spike, Woodstock, Rerun, The little red haired girl, Ollie, Cormac!!!

All these caracters that make me smile!!! :) :)

****
wolfeshadow1313- This has to be one of the most easily reconized songs of all time. It bounces, your feet have to move to this song. Great upload, thanks

****
1953Stephan - Now the radio stations are playing this as a Christmas song Nice:)

****
MzCarrie4Ever-@1953Stephan And I love that too! I heard this sing on my radio during the morning! I enjoyed it very much

****
Blackfalcon476 - Forget Thanksgiving. It's nice and all, but to me it only seems like a tease until Christmas. When you hear this on the radio, you know the best season of the year has come to fruition.

10 months ago @stevepwood Isn't it? You can't help but smile when you hear it no matter what sort of bad mood you're in. I disagree about kids not knowing about Peanuts. I think their sort of timeless.

NavyFlyer1325- Of course, this theme is titled "Linus and Lucy", and was written by and originally performed by the phenomenal jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi and his trio. Great stuff!!
