This page is part #2 of a jambalayah.com series which showcases jazz interpretations of "popular" songs or tunes. In the context of this page “popular” means somewhat songs or tunes from the music genres of Pop, R&B, Folk, and other non-jazz genres which are familiar or well known in the USA and elsewhere in English speaking societies.

It's my position that one way to grow a jazz audience is by making jazz more familiar to people of all ages. Most of the featured songs in this series originated outside of jazz. Your suggestions are welcomed for additional songs & artists that could be featured in this series. Contact jambalayah17@yahoo.com

Order Of Presentation
The title of the featured song is posted in bold font. A "popular" example of that featured song or tune is then posted first and is followed by several jazz interpretations of that song/tune. The jazz interpretations may be posted in chronological order, with the oldest examples presented first.

Disclaimer:These postings are not meant to imply that these examples are the only non-jazz or jazz interpretations. Nor is the example given in bold font or other examples meant to be interpreted as the earliest recorded example of those songs/tunes.
Sometimes the earliest recorded example of the featured song is from the jazz genre. However, usually the jazz songs/tunes presented on this page are re-interpretations of a non-jazz originated song or tune.

Note: Certain videos featured on this page may also be found in the Jazz section of Jambalayah.com along with their uploader's comments and an edited viewer comment thread.
