"aleki do? i we aleku!!! ENJOY!!

Video Description:
This is an uptempo Eritrean song with video of a beautiful woman wearing beautiful jewlery and traditional Eritrean clothing. This video also includes shots of contemporary urban scenes, adults dancing in an Eritrean nightclub, young children dancing on a sidewalk, and the vocalist playing a traditional Eritrean harp-like instrument. I'm sorry that I don't speak Amharic (which I think is the language that the song is in). And I regret that I don't know the vocalist Wedi Tukul and I don't know the name of the lyre-like instrument he is playing.

This description doesn't do this video justice. Watch it! You're in for a treat!

To date, I've not been able to find an online biography for Wedi Tukal. However, he is mentioned in several sites as a popular contemporary Eritrean vocalist/musician.

Here's some rather dated information about Wedi Tukal from this site http://www.awate.com/artman/publish/printer_1384.shtml about Wedi Tukal :

"US Authorities Deport Wedi Tukul

American authorities have deported "wedi Tukul" to Eritrea, according to Eritreans who work at the airport in Washington, DC.

"Wedi Tukul" is arguably the best known Eritrean musician the Eritrean Revolution produced and his songs were crucial in mobilizing support for the Eritrean People Liberation Front (EPLF), now People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), the ruling party in Eritrea.

After Eritrean indpendence, Wedi Tukul had several run-ins with the PFDJ, resulting in no fewer than two imprisonements.  Each time, he was released because he is a huge asset to the party: his concerts draw thousands of Eritreans.  The proceeds from the concerts, all in hard currency, are then routed to the PFDJ.

Wedi Tukul had been touring North America for months now and was expected in Northern California for the Independence celebrations. His deportation is likely due to an expired visa.   After "9-11", the United States immigration office has been diligent in enforcing its immigration policies, particularly with respect to citizens who come from "Muslim" nations that are on the government's list.

In an effort to court the favor of the United States, some believe the PFDJ has exaggerated its "jihad problem."  Consequently, Eritrea is on the list of "Muslim" nations and men of a certain age group from Eritrea are closely watched by US authorities, regardless of their religion."

Regretably, most of the comments on this video's YouTube viewer thread http://www.youtube.com/comment_servlet?all_comments&v=a2_q_LQhO6Q&fromurl=/watch%3Fv%3Da2_q_LQhO6Q%26feature%3Drelated were argumentative.

But here's a comment I can agree with from that thread:

The Queen of Sheba must have looked like these women and Solomon lost his head and heart to her. They are magnificent!
