genghis59 (10 months ago) Thanks! I filmed this in Salvador Brazil as part of a new documentary called "Slave to the Rhythm". This was one of the most intense atmospheres that I have ever filmed in my 33 year career as a cinematographer!

In the film I think I'll like to see the relationship between Capoeira Regional and Capoeira Angola in and outside Brazil. Because it seems that Angola has a much smaller following than Regional and it will be interesting to see how peoples opinions are portrayed on camera. Also it will be good to see a bit more on the history of both styles and what are the factors fuelling their development today. Because there are allot of misconceptions about both styles.

It is the modern world made capoeira movie. different from 'Only the Strong' this movie tells about the legend capoeira warior. Maybe it will give you some ideas to make your capoeira movie.

This is "Grupo Engenho" a capoeira group from Salvador Bahia Brazil. The masters are Mestre Baiano and Mestre Grandão... They are clearly awesome at their play!

aftpuser (1 week ago) capoeira is a traditional dance and martial art, key term being ART, yes there are some moves and basic fighting stances in it, but its an art form, who cares if it doesnt meet your standards of "effective" defense. The point of martial arts is just to have the moves incorporated in an easy to learn and readily available for for when a stressful situation arises. The point is you have something to fall back on instead of locking up when someone poses a threat
