carolerory (11 months ago) Louis did this stuff 10 years before Elvis in the mid 40's.. so I say he started rock n roll or jump blues..
****
MRROCK92 (11 months ago) this is too great...

freshley (11 months ago) Is there anyone better than Louis Jordan? I doubt it. And I agree, Louis had way, way more to do with starting rock and roll than Elvis or anyone else, except maybe Bill Haley. The others just popularized it.

coconols (11 months ago) it's sounds like oh carol by chuck berry ...jordan is a genious

PeteyHop (10 months ago) The master!!!
Rappin' way before there was even such a thing, swingin' harder than anybody.
I hope you guys like my video post, just payin' homage to the master.

CosmicFunkOSMOSIS (10 months ago) The MASTER, Louis Jordan, proves in "CALDONIA" what I've always suspected:
HE WAS THE FUNK!!! Predating James Brown, The Coasters, Sly Stone, Parliament-Funkadelic, and Chuck Brown. Doin' it way back in the 1930s and 1940s, and Tearin'! Stuff!! UP!!!!
Thanks for uploading this video. He's long since joined the "Band In The Sky" (1975), but this footage makes Louis Jordan--and the FUNK--Eternal!!

Epic.

106732 (8 months ago) And they say Rock & Roll didn't start until the 50's. This was what, 1945? This has always been pure R & R. Louis Jordan was a big influence on Bill Haley. Bill Haley & the Comets recorded several L.J. songs, including this one & Choo Choo Ch Boogie.

jody808 (2 months ago) this man to me is the King of Rock N'Roll or what was to become rock n' roll, he predates Elvis and Little Richard, these clips are from the 40s.
****
dal4018 (2 months ago) Jody your absolutely right this man along with Joe Turner,Lionel Hampton created a style of music called "Jump Blues" music historians said that it was blues music with a beat to it and because of that you got rock&roll,R&B and everything else you hear today.I call these men the TERRIFIC TRIO!!!!!!!!!!!
