SoulTooSoul (1 year ago) Dennis Brown had one of the most soulful voices in reggae. If you listen to any of his interviews he always gave hommage to Sam Cooke, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, and others. Promise Land has a pulsating beat and sweet vocals. Dennis wrote and sang from the heart.

Viandanterosso (1 year ago) Simply one of the best voices in reggae history (also Marley said so)...Dennis was the best example of a true rastaman, ever smiling, ever irie and positive...His death was a big loss for all reggae lovers
****

****
FramCanary (1 year ago) I was there that day, as a 15 year old from north suffolk with my father. Fantastic concert, with Price Buster & Skatalites kicking things off, the legend that is Michael Rose (with Uhuru & Sly/Robbie), back to the late 60's with Leroy Sibbles, & Dennis!. He had 30,000 of us in the palm of his hand that day. Saw him twice more after this - 89, with Frankie Paul in London & 92 in Birmingham. WOULD LOVE TO SHARE MEMORIES WITH OTHERS WHO WERE THERE.

The69Hotstepper (9 months ago) I was there too. He was the last act on. AND, what a show he put on. Unbelievable... People waited all day to hear him. Rumours have it , he refused to come out unless he was the last act on. But.. When he did... The whole place erupted like i have never heard before, at any concert or stage show. R.I.P. DEB.

TCOOOReggae (6 months ago) I don't care what nobody say, Dennis Brown is the greatest reggae artist EVER!!!
****
kawaim0m0 (5 months ago) I second that.
****
danzig159 (5 months ago) sorry man, I love Dennis Brown, but Bob's the man, no one tops Bob Marley
****
TCOOOReggae (5 months ago) Bob is great, no denying. but let's face the fact... Bob's vocals are nowhere close to Dennis. Plus most of Bob Marley's lyrics are just quote from Black leaders and the bible. Like I always here people saying "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery none but ourselves can free our minds" and say that is from Bob Marley. It is actually from Marcus Garvey. But because so many people are mental slaves they will never know that.
They are both great and definitely in the top 10 though...
****
danzig159 (5 months ago) I really appreciate your opinion, it's well grounded. A lot of Bob's lyrics ARE from the bible, no doubt. And I read Macus Garvey's book where he said "Emancipate yourself... etc", also don't forget War where Bob quoted Haile Selassie's speech to the UN. But besides vocals - which Dennis Brown's are amazing - and lyrics, I think the greatest is the one who made the deepest impact and the longest lasting impression. (Garnet Silk had the best voice)
****
kululu0000 (6 months ago) Without any shadow of doubt, DB got the most natural melodious voice in the biznez. David Hinds, Bob, Don Carlos and Ini Kamoze comes close second. No wonder he sounds sooo good without instrumentation or studio.
****
Electrovogel (5 months ago) wonderful song... great... we will reach the promised land
****
woodmaster77 (4 months ago) I love this version!! A little more tempo than the studio version. Wicked!!!!!!
****

Big blessings!

ausaurwest (2 months ago) I trust I meet you DB in the promised land.
I know my future is in my hand.
Never fall, I and I will always stand.
Your voice awesome...your music grand.
God Bless You my divine brother.
One Love from Southern Illinois
****
patryksky (1 month ago) its not if bob marley is better or not better it's about the tune/song and the man voice.I personally dont like dennis brown voice that much, but i know he can sing...i perfer duckie simpsons voice...i dont think dennis brown can sing black uhuru songs better or sound better than duckie simpson...certain songs lend better to different voices
****
dubskinz (1 month ago) True is about the song.. but i still feel Dennis is a more powerful & talented singer than Marley. I think the most talented jamaican singer of all time tho is Barrington Levy. His vocals are amazing. Not like the talentless auto tune singers we have today.
***
Kimland1 (1 month ago) Just listen to the music and appreciate. Dennis Brown and Bob were not in a race ... if you think one is better than the other, what is the race, where does it begin, where does it end? Bob sing Bob music .. no one is greater than Bob in Bob lyrics. No one, not even Bob is greater than Dennis Brown iin Dennis lyrics. Peace.
