wyattkincaid-That girl is NOT Dee Dee Sharp. Check out Dee Dee's videos. If anyone knows why Dee Dee wasn't in this clip with Chubby please tell. Just curious.

boortz47- You're correct - that definitely is NOT Dee Dee Sharp. I searched hi & lo on the net and can't find out who it is. It could very well have been some contract dispute that prevented Dee Dee from appearing or perhaps even Chubby insisting on being the only "star" in this scene.

KojiRecords - 3 versions of Slow Twistin': 1) the original by Chubby Checker & Dee Dee Sharp on Parkway, also released in Europe on 78 rpm; 2) Dee Dee Sharp & Chubby Checker on Cameo, Dee Dee sings Chubby's lead and he does her part, this appears on Dee Dee's Mashed Potato Time album on Cameo, the liner notes by Chubby state he did not want Dee Dee singing on the record; and 3) The Marvelettes on their Hits of '62 album on Tamla, they do both Slow Twistin' and Mashed Potato Time. Great tunes!

karinaport- Dear KojiRecords: You forgot Chubby`s live version on the ``In Person`` Lp(Parkway 7021). It starts with him shouting Is everybody alright? Do you feel alright? Are you ready to go now?

gillisgrant - The camera probably shows very little close-ups of the woman because it's not Dee Dee. Not sure who it is, but she sort of looks familiar.

****
fansince68 - According to chubby checker website, Chubby made a regretful decision not to use Dee Dee in the movie.

****
GetsumJ - What a rare , classic find. Nice post :-)

****
KojiRecords - The audo recording of this video clip is a rare, longer version than the original Chubby Checker-Parkway Records single, which ends at the 2:13 mark. Also, there is an alternate vocal line by Chubby at the 1:57 mark.

****
soulfultony - Uh, this video is from "Don't Knock The Twist" and that is NOT Dee Dee Sharp as Dee did not appear in the movie.

****
vincennzo13 - If I didnt know any better I would say its linda scott seeing as how she got credited in the beginning, but its not, so far as I know. Also she isnt singing, she is lip syncing and she is not doing a very good job, she actually at a few points strays from the lyrics she is supposed to know.

beatlejim64- Entered the Top 40 on March 10,1962...got as high as # 3...stayed in the Top 40 for 12 weeks.

boiragirules-Oh what a gem.

newjerseybt- This duet features Chubby and Dee Dee Sharp the Gospel singer who swerved into the rock scene around 1962. Her greatest hits were Ride!, Mashed Potato Time and Gravy. I seem to recall that Dee Dee's songs were on the Cameo label.

Linda Scott was a white singer whose title songs usually had the word "star" in them. Examples: "Every Little Star", A Thousand Stars" See her greatest hits CD.

****
nextel135 - I find it very, very interesting that on this record, only Chubby Checker was credited on vocals, and not Dee Dee Sharp.

****
soulfultony - No, thats NOT Dee Dee but it certainly is not Linda Scott(she was a white pop singer). Its Dee's voice.

****
BluesInMySoul- i like this one. I had never heard of it

****
wilbar2922- This is the first single I ever bought. I lost most of my records a long time ago and it was great to hear this again. They never seem to play it on the radio even on the oldies stations.

****
jliscorpio - Why did they call him Chubby when he clearly had a pretty nice physique in that suit.

****
19janellen79- He was name after Fats Domino - true.

kenedwards88 - The story goes: Mrs. Dick Clark saw him and said, "He looks like a Chubby Checker," instead of a "Fat" Domino, & the name stuck. It's also said that he lost a great deal of weight in the 1st yr. of touring after "The Twist" became a hit. Proof positive; "The Twist" works for weight loss!

****
MrJimmychick- The band backing up Chubby in this scene and all through out this movie[Don't Knock the Twist] is the Carroll Bros from Philly. My Dad,Jimmy Chick is the drummer.

****
azizip17-@MrJimmychick Thanks for that info. The band did a good job as backup. Philly rocks!
-from a gal who lived in Atlantic City (near Philly) until her mid teen years.

****
ioxxd90- The Marvelettes also did this as a cover song on the album "Sing Hits Of 62".

****

lyon406 - Dee Dee Sharp was born Dione LaRue, September 9, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

****
azizip17-@lyon406 Thanks for sharing that info. I love finding out the birth names of celebrities & I didn't know that Dee Dee Sharp was born in Philly. My twin sister's name was Dee Dee so I've always felt an affection toward Dee Dee Sharp. Plus Dee Dee Sharp can sing! (And people are right. That woman (who should get some credit) is lip synching Dee Dee Sharp in that movie.

****
balboa62 - My era, loved it, miss it, times were great! American Bandstand, great music, great dances, yeah!

****
Unique9773 -That is a unique, sweet, rare, good quality man. You don't see too many like him. I am a 1950 baby but I can still enjoy this classic music and dance. I am starting to do the twist to lose inches around my waist. Thanks Chubby. You are a classic. You will never go out of style.

****
veraellen1924- if its Dee Dee Sharp how come they say at the begining its Linda Scot I don't understand

****
Gwhitebeard- @veraellen1924 THis clip is from the movie "Don't knock the twist" and Linda Scott sang "Yes-sirre" right before Chubby and Dee Dee went on with these Smoking HOT lyrics.

***
good2btrueblue117 - I love it!!.. i grew up with this, my mom would put it on while cleaning the house on weekends, but most of the time we would stop and start dancing in the livingroom..those were the days.

****
megiszon86- this dance is amazing ! :):))

****
castelobrancopaulo - The sound we are hearing comes from Chubby Checker & Dee Dee Sharp voices, but the images above are Chubby Checker & another girl. Not dee Dee Sharp. Who is she?

****
Skubalah - This was all before "process foods" really made us chubby.

****
Lossfer -This man knew much about Music,Rythm, dancing. What a talent.

With a big heart and a big soul.

****
ronaldt491- @Lossfer Realize he did NOT do the original version Twist. Look up Hank Ballard and the Midnighters for the original. Try his other stuff while you're there. THEN compare!
