sliv812 (10 months ago) This was the #1 single in the USA exactly 40 years ago today (it also happens to be the day I was born). I'm turning 40 today! Yikes!
****
kyokogodai (10 months ago) What show was this performance from? Smothers Bros? I would like to know, if anyone can tell.
****
TheAGirl68 (10 months ago) it's from the musical called 'Hair' :)

****
kyokogodai (10 months ago) I know it is from Hair ;p I was refering to this particular television appearance (unless this is actually from the movie version of Hair, which I have not seen).

****
solesirching73 (10 months ago) This performance was from "The Ed Sullivan Show"

****
kyokogodai (10 months ago) That's what I wanted to know. Thanks!

****
SkippyYTUK (9 months ago) Brilliant.
****
theglitterband (9 months ago) The Age of Aquarius, 'Englightenment'. When all wars will end and cease. The human race will tire of war and seek other methods, more peaceful methods to solve problems between nations. Thiis will be when the 'Age of Aquarius' will really kick in. There will be a worldwide peace when the planets align with Mars. We are in the Age of Aquarius now, but its effects will not be felt for sometime yet. There will be much upheavel on this earth before it really kicks in. LET THE SUNSHINE IN. AMEN

****
goback3spaces (9 months ago) Yeah, but isn't Mars the God of War? If we're going to crack open the Dom Perignon and toast worldwide peace, why not wait until the planets align with Venus, who is, after all, the Goddess of Love? Huh? Huh? I'm awaiting an answer!!!
****
valetudo2000 (9 months ago) What did you smoke??
****
illagam (9 months ago) Show Hide +3 Marked as spam Reply | Spam I don´t smoke at all ! But I confess, I like cofee !
****
Daedalus (9 months ago) Without war, there is no pain. Without pain, there is no desire for peace.
****
goback3spaces (9 months ago) An interesting equation. Does this mean that peace is impossible? It's a striving, a desire, a yearning for that which we don't have. Or maybe peace is just a transient thing, a fleeting glimpse of heaven, alternating with manifestations of man's bellicose nature. Whatever the truth, Miss McCoo's legs make it all worthwhile.
****
yeaghallow (9 months ago) Thanx for the vid. Brought back alot of sweet memories. There will never be another group of ppl who sound as good as the these classic voices.
****
everythinok (8 months ago) Where does this song come from, I mean is it really from a 5th dimension? Sooooo un-earthy. Is it some kind of prayer? Possibly. I m looking forward to meet the sun they keep calling and let the sunshine in.

****
DMmonkeys30269 (8 months ago) we're currentally in the age of Pisces.
each age is assumed about 25,860 years.
[stolen from wiki regarding the age of aquarius in pop culture] it's seen by some to be marked by the conjunction of the planet Uranus, ruler of the sign Aquarius, and the coming age, with Pluto bringing radical change, in the 1960s. As the song relates, it is only considered by astrologers as the "dawning" of the Age, with the full strength of the Age not occurring until some time in the future.
****
kountrypapa (8 months ago) I remember seeing "Hair" when it came it. This is from the same age. Those of you too young to have experienced that great age will never know what you missed.
baztastik (5 months ago) With the magic of recorded audio and video, I'd say the youngsters will get a pretty good idea of the great age of nice music and cheesey special effects.
****
istimewa1x (8 months ago) Belongs in every top 100

****
LillyPupProductions (7 months ago) I heard about that, too.
****
09205479428 (7 months ago) 2012 is the Age of Aquarius... Hmmmm doomsday many say, I think otherwise .. i imagine a new Age.. a new beginning. Very nice song.
****
lolatyoulol (7 months ago) it's actually 2150, 2012 corresponds to the new age in the mayan calendar, not the greek zodiac...

****
09205479428 (7 months ago) an age or aeon corresponds to 1 passing of zodiac sign in every 12/26000 years. 2012 is the dfawning of aquarius, the end of pisces.
****
palmares77 (8 months ago) A very unsung group I feel........!!! Shows the beautiful musical diversity of the Black Voice. I thought all this time, a White group sung this song.............. HOW IGNORANT I WAS.

east215 (7 months ago) There was a poster when I was a kid called "Love Comes in all Colors". My Dad was a teacher and had it on the door to his class. t was during busing for integration. I went to "colored town" to an integrated school in Miami, Miami Central. Azucar!
****
PoliticsAddict (7 months ago) 2150 doesn't matter, 2012 is the important date. there will be mass destruction and chaos. and it may be the 21st or the 23 but its going to be around the end of 2012. i don't think you can pinpoint a certain day but definitely in the winter solstice. all good things come to an end, and for most people it will be the end. life isn't fair and life is harsh and cruel, 2012 will not be a rebirth or a happy thing.
****
wolfmyth007 (7 months ago) As lolatyoulol said, 2012, doesn't not mean destruction. There are plenty of websites that explain it all. The world has 'ended' numerous times already. 2012 is the 'age of the Aquarius' , and as the song says there will be 'harmony, understanding, peace and trust abounding'.
****

****
gr187 (6 months ago) Can anyone tell me what this song is supposed to be about?

****
hkn10x (6 months ago) We had hope in the 60's of a new age coming, when people would live in peace, mutual respect, and a better quality of life through spiritual development. An end to war, no more bomb, growth of age of humanism. Best I could do in 25 words or less
****
aitraining (6 months ago) 2:16 is aswesome 60's groovy! Great group.
****
lysdexek (6 months ago) I may have missed out on the '60's but the music still resonates today and I love every little bit of it.

"Let the sunshine, let the sunshine in..." (:

PS: "Wooo..."
****
da5masta (6 months ago) Why note the age of the Libra lol or Aries
****
hkn10x (6 months ago) I do not know. I do remember, even for a kid in NJ who did not turn 18 until 1972, the air was electric with anticipation and hope for what might be. Vietnam war, the assassinations, Laugh-In, riots, demonstrations, etal. People cared about and discussed politics and social issues. A really different time.
****
gr187 (6 months ago) Why was it Aquarius though...why not Virgo or Pisces?
****
MusicDude86 (6 months ago) because Aquarius sounds better
****
lekkerejongen (6 months ago) Duh?! Because the solar system goes through various astrological ages and we are entering the age of Aquarius. :-)
****
nanderson1965 (6 months ago) Because of the Procession of the stars.
We were in the age of Pisces since the time of Christ.
Each age lasts for about 2000 years.
We have now moved into... say it with me people,
The Age of Aquarius.
Peace!
****
ohsinnaman (6 months ago) Aquarius traditionally "rules" electricity, computers, flight, democracy, freedom, humanitarianism, idealists, modernization, rebels and rebellion, mental diseases, nervous disorders, and astrology. Other keywords and ideas believed associated with Aquarius are nonconformity, philanthropy, veracity, perseverance, mankind and irresolution. The appearance of many of these Aquarian developments over the last few centuries is considered by many astrologers to prove the proximity of the Aquarian age.
****
BIGPREZY (6 months ago) I was a tween when they had this hit. They were soulful, but controlled. I wanted their clothes ...And what Teenage Boy did not Love Marilyn McCoo. If you check out their Bio its pretty interesting.

bit50s (4 months ago) It's a pretty interesting story how they came about recording these 2 separate songs (from Hair) and combining them into one. I'd guess it can be found on the internet, a bit too much to type here.

broke2471 (2 months ago) I was a baby when they were out, but heard them later in life, and I thought they were all so cute. Marilyn and Florence LaRue where so pretty, and I saw pictures of them recently, and Black don't Crack they are still fine. And a little trivia, Marily sang the original Saving All My Love for You, rerecorded by Whitney Houston, who knew...Good Group and good sound...and Marilyn and Billy have been married for til this day - my hats off to them.
****

****
madmanmatalawag (1 month ago) There is a lot off music , a lot of really, really Great Soul Music included, that can be Rediscovered. This group is one such case, but there is even more !!! Try MFSB, The Funk Brothers, The Philly sound, and so much more. The 50's, 60's and 70's were and still are , A Gold Mine for this Genre. Look for it. You'll get to know it , and love it !!!!!
****
23Firedrake (1 month ago) Hello Marilyn from Solid Gold. You were the BEST Girlie! Actually, you still are!
****
carolerory (1 month ago) love the 5th dimension... those harmonies and
the positive message of the band..
consider myself lucky to grow up in that era of
music.. rock, soul, gospel, jazz, country, all peaked by the late 70's... mtv era and beat music replaced the lyrics & harmonies..

****
boxerdogs11 (1 month ago) Amen! I second that. Loved growing up in the 60's and 70's. No better time.
****
