TheReneex (7 months ago) Frankie and The Teenagers set the standard for future boy and girl vocal groups, and are rarely credited for their musical contributions. Even Michael jackson, who recently passed away, failed to acknowlege lymon as his musical inspiration, even though, it was quite obvious, that The Jackson 5 were simply an updated version of The Teenagers! It just goes to show you, 4-ever imitated, never duplicated!

He lost his signature soprano voice when his voice changed, his popularity plummeted and his drug-use began. Imagine your career peaking when you're 13.

I wasn't born in Frankie Lymon's generation, or alive during the J5 era but I have to agree with previous comments on similiarity between Frankie Lymon's and Michael Jackson's.
I love Michael's music. If his voice was inspired by Frankie's, that's a GREAT thing.

The lyrics are always the same: drugs, alcohol, materialism, and dehumanizing women. Pop today isn't much better since the lyrics are horrible too and the beats are synthesized and the voices electronic. Whatever happened to actual SINGING?!

bday121 (3 months ago) Everything on the radio is the same: electronic/overproduced crap about dancing at clubs, getting so drunk you have no idea what's going on, using women, acting like a whore, or worshipping material possessions. Some songs are different, but this is the overwhelming trend.

Give me a good singer who can actually hit some notes and write about some deeper and more meaningful topics and I'll be sold.

Turn off the radio and find the real Hip-hop out there. Trust me, there is rap that is the real deal - full of talent, music, and purpose. You just have to look for it. Everything good is worth seeking out.

He was killed by early fame,and the exploitation of the greedy moguls of the music business of that time. Rock n Roll owes Frankie a great debt of gratitude for being one of the pioneers of modern music.
