k4z3n0k1zu (8 months ago) Frankie Lymon was a really charming kid.

I love this song.
****
voodoomasteryahoo (8 months ago) Frankie Lymon was born in Harlem, New York to a truck driver father and a mother who worked as a maid.

****
pamkayvan (8 months ago) Back then the groups did and said what they were told to do. Yes ,Frakie did help write the song and he gave it its's name. The kid still was very talented and his voice made the Teenagers. IU am old enough to remember these times. Rock'n'roll was the best the times were too.
****
dianamaryflorence (8 months ago) It was amazing to watch these teenagers on national television back in 1956. I bought the record about a week after its release.
****
MICKEYSMONKEY (8 months ago) frankie lymon was the michael jackson of my childhood......yes.....i'm an ol-fart
****
mgkpecky (8 months ago) i cant believe that this was considered rock back then-thats what he said right? did n e 1 else here that?

****
lagosdogblue (8 months ago) Actually this is how rock and roll really sounds not that gibberish we hear on the radio nowadays that gives you headaches and you can't even dance to. Check out Chuck Berry, these were the fathers of the real Rock & Roll.
****
redevil858 (8 months ago) yea i heard rock n roll to. man its weird how this was rock n roll back in those days and things have changed alot just like now im notcicing some music is really changing little by little
****
lovesexpistols134 (8 months ago) wow 1956 was a long time i wasn't even born , this song is one of the best , frankie lymon and the teenagers were the best , this days talent doesn't exist , shame.
****
lovesexpistols134 (8 months ago) Frankie was focus more by the manager, to him Frankie was the star , not the teenagers , to me all of them were equally talented.
****

****
76rogere (8 months ago) OK , so I`m the second to make this comment but Frankie was a prototype Michael Jackson. I`m old enough to remember this song the first time around .
****

IronBrig4 (8 months ago) This is some classy stuff. Singers from the 40s and 50s dressed up for their performances. Their performances had an aura of self-respect and class. Today's singers typically wear doo-rags and those baggy pants that barely cover their rear ends. Kids today... GET OFF OF MY LAWN!
blinknbcr (8 months ago) lmao completely agree...
****
xShad0wGhostx (8 months ago) It's like an early incarnation of the Jackson 5! You have the youngest one Frankie as the lead singer just like Michael. It's so uncanny. Amazing how at the same time generations are different they are the same. The 20th Century will always be the most memorable so long as human beings should exist. I mean we had pioneers like Elvis, Bruce Lee, and Michael Jackson. So much innovation, creatism, and spirit. They should make a movie called, "From Graceland to Neverland" The two kings. Epic. Wow.
****
TeveelTV (8 months ago) Frankie Lymon was one of rock & roll's first teen prodigies -- and one of its earliest tragedies. Lymon wrote and sang this hit as a thirteen-year-old Harlem kid. But the writing credit -- and money -- went to his label boss, Levy, an associate of the Genovese family. Lymon died a penniless heroin addict in 1968 at the age of twenty-five.
****
lainelaine23 (8 months ago) the movie was great and i bought this song on itunes for 69 cents! i was happy! originally its slower but i guess they sped it up becuz they r on a show.

****
THANewYorkstyle (7 months ago) souljas dont cry!!!
****
MsShatee (7 months ago) I love doo wop ! & Frankie Lymon is the reason why !
****
CommonwealthCanadian (7 months ago) Frankie Lymon was the pre- Michael JACKSON of his time,
interesting that a JACKSON ( Dennis) helped Frankie with
his start.

I am sure 10 year old Michael, and the Jackson 5 probably
were influenced by Frankie and the Teenagers.

One can only image what they could have done together,
as a duet. Both taken from us too young, too soon.
****
millervedra (7 months ago) GREAT!
****
flowergood046 (7 months ago) this ROCKS
****
TeamKilday (7 months ago) This song is awesome. It's feel good, boppy and simple. One comment though.....could you imagine a group of teenage boys these days wearing those jumpers with a bow tie? hahahaha
****
RateDTD (7 months ago) To be honest, I rather have them wearing those jumpers with a bow tie than sagging their pants with all those tattoos like a wanna-be G.
****
TeamKilday (7 months ago) So true....so true.

****
smilelio (7 months ago) The band and the group are singing / playing in two different keys!! But man, he was amazing! :)
****
TheReneex (7 months ago) Frankie and The Teenagers set the standard for future boy and girl vocal groups, and are rarely credited for their musical contributions. Even Michael jackson, who recently passed away, failed to acknowlege lymon as his musical inspiration, even though, it was quite obvious, that The Jackson 5 were simply an updated version of The Teenagers! It just goes to show you, 4-ever imitated, never duplicated!
****
1trume (7 months ago) Yeah, the teenagers were a mixed group. Some were Latinos. (hope I can use that word, not meant to offend anyone).
****
tuber65 (7 months ago) How ironic that at 1:03 the tall backup singer mentions making money before his voice changes. That's exactly what happened to Frankie Lymon. He lost his signature soprano voice when his voice changed, his popularity plummeted and his drug-use began. Imagine your career peaking when you're 13.
****
kingwill86 (6 months ago) Frankie is one of if not the best kid singer that Ive ever heard.
****
rubyspirit2 (6 months ago) Ever heard of a kid named Michael Jackson?
****
soneromygz (6 months ago) the song was written by puertorican herman santiago...a couple years ago he claimed the rights and was awarded with some millions
****
EnclaveSupporter (6 months ago) frankie lymon doesnt seem full black? is he mixed or not cause he doesnt look full... but awesome song!
****
tabby1buddy (6 months ago) no he's fully black but it is possible that one of ancestors may have had white in their blood.
****

****

****
RussX5Z (6 months ago) No offense but I thought a lady sang this lead instead of a little boy. Hmm sorta strange.
****
tatyh8 (6 months ago) Diana Ross remade this song like in the 80's.
****
soccergoalkeeper1 (6 months ago) in the movie Why Do Fools Fall in Love, did they make his character more older? or was it me? cuz larenz tate didn't look like a 13 year old.
****
tatyh8 (6 months ago) that confused me also- i couldnt imagine that little 13 year old kid doing drugs and tossing dogs out the window lol!
****
cds162 (6 months ago) reading these posts must be from a bunch of "kids".. not konwing the lead singer was a 13yo kid.. he was in fact the inspration for MJ.......... to bad they both are gone
****
aGwEENapple (6 months ago) I LOVED this song since I heard it when I was little.
I wasn't born in Frankie Lymon's generation, or alive during the J5 era but I have to agree with previous comments on similiarity between Frankie Lymon's and Michael Jackson's.
I love Michael's music. If his voice was inspired by Frankie's, that's a GREAT thing.
****
SAonnz1 (6 months ago) Another example of gems coming out of a streetgang infested, 1950's city 'hood to make some great sounds. To bad some of the urban vices got hold of Frankie.
****
businessbmw (6 months ago) wow that was a long time ago! my dad was not even born!
****
bigjoe454 (5 months ago) I'm not being racist or anything, but I didn't think black people were aloud on tv at 1956?

Well, good on them =] Great song.
****
LeslieGMN (5 months ago) Black entertainers occasionally appeared on television back then. They played servants, pretty much exclusively, on sitcoms until the late '60s.

FaithCruzito0508 (4 months ago) This so amazing to me, to see how the old days were. Im only 24 and love all music. This is great to see how music was back then. This is good music.
****
Jonathandreamer (3 months ago) Wow! Wow! Frankie Lymon was a genius. What a fantastic group the Teenagers were. They must have paved the way for so many groups to become recording artists. I'm overwhelmed by this performance once they're allowed to get going by the insignificant ramblings of the TV host.
****
CoolioRockstar (3 months ago) WOW! I want the doowop songs to be back!
****
bday121 (3 months ago) Wow music today really is terrible. Rap is pretty much pure garbage; aside from having good beats it's just awful. The lyrics are always the same: drugs, alcohol, materialism, and dehumanizing women. Pop today isn't much better since the lyrics are horrible too and the beats are synthesized and the voices electronic. Whatever happened to actual SINGING?!
****
bday121 (3 months ago) Everything on the radio is the same: electronic/overproduced crap about dancing at clubs, getting so drunk you have no idea what's going on, using women, acting like a whore, or worshipping material possessions. Some songs are different, but this is the overwhelming trend.

Give me a good singer who can actually hit some notes and write about some deeper and more meaningful topics and I'll be sold.
****
spiritminstrel (3 months ago) This is amazing music and it is sorely missed. However, those of you unimpressed with Rap are listening to the wrong artists. Turn off the radio and find the real Hip-hop out there. Trust me, there is rap that is the real deal - full of talent, music, and purpose. You just have to look for it. Everything good is worth seeking out.
****
kennboy1 (3 months ago) Agreed Spirit, you guys gotta look for the right hip hop!
****
lou737 (3 months ago) Music today really sucks big time. synthesized crap for people who can't hold a note. Thank you youtube for giving us what real music sounds like.
****

laminage (2 months ago) Can you imagine helping to write one of the Biggest Records of all time and never getting paid that was featured in one of the Biggest Teen Movies of all time not to mention being Recorded By Diana Ross & The Beach Boys. A true shame.

****
harlemboi212 (2 months ago) Imagine writing the entire song, and not get credit...
****
WarioMan939 (2 months ago) Frankie Lymon did write this song.
****
JAMEVINUN (3 months ago) Actually It Was Herman Santiago
****
ationvll (2 months ago) Frankie did not write it... the reason why people say he got screwed is because he didnt make any money for singing it... all the royalties went to moris levy
****
icegirl71388 (2 months ago) This group paved the way for many other boy groups. Love this song! RIP Frankie Lymon.

Prekmom2005 (1 month ago) I guess we all had the same idea. I signed on to see who he was myself, why? because I was watching the movie. I can't seem to find any adult footage of Frankie Lymon.
dutchesshouston (1 month ago) he died hella young thats why 25 and im guessing his career hit rock bottom when he was 17
****
PJDooWop (1 month ago) The Teenager's harmony sounds even tighter in person than it does on the record. Now that's freakin talent. So many artists sound like crap when they're not in the studio, but not these guys
****
stile1973 (4 weeks ago) Jesus these kids were talented.

****
flyboylipad (3 weeks ago) Music was its best in the 50s!!!
****
73 (3 weeks ago) It's strange how little credit the other singers get - especially the bass, who I feel is just brilliant. But Frankie didn't start this group, look it up on wikipedia to confirm that.
****

Makiba08 (3 weeks ago) Michael Jackson, Elvis and he were all influenced by Jackie Wilson who had hits with the Dominoes in the early fifties....you could see how he influenced their dance moves...A Jackie Wilson movie is long overdue.
****
Makiba08 (3 weeks ago) Elvis said that he was influenced by Jackie Wilson and called Jackie the real King of Rock & Roll.....google Elvis Presley & Jackie Wilson. He admired Jackie so much that he paid for his funeral expenses.

****
robertclemon (2 weeks ago) please dont forget Roy hamilton, Who influenced jackie ...

****
Makiba08 (3 weeks ago) James Brown was also influenced by Jackie Wilson
****
sweetgirl3344 (3 weeks ago) dis that old school music
and i like it
****
blisskasden (2 weeks ago) One of the great talents and one of the great tragedies of all time. Look at the poise and charisma Frankie had at 13 years old. He was killed by early fame, and the exploitation of the greedy moguls of the music business of that time. Rock n Roll owes Frankie a great debt of gratitude for being one of the pioneers of modern music.

****
charlesbonares (2 weeks ago) 28.º position on Top 100 Billboard 1956.
****
copewood333 (1 week ago) Contrived interview but great song.
****
amd02148 (1 day ago) I dont know the talent they, singers today cant even compare to them, notice how their voices are so strong they dont sing with microphones? what artists do that today?
