GarystedmanF (1 year ago) They've got it. As a person who only embraces a certain style of bluegrass I can say these folks has got what it takes. I don't care for a whole lot of blue grass type music, but when it comes flavored with an applachian mountain touch and is sung from the soul, its usually right on time. I am so glad I found some african americans who embrace this style of music. I also detect a little cajun touch, which I also love. We Love Yall from Alabama!

superdave2112 (1 year ago) Partially true, but there is also the influence of the American slaves, from Africa. That is where the primitive banjo came from. Thomas Jefferson wrote about the slaves carrying thier "banjars" off the boats.

Sure many of the songs and melodies came from Europe (don't forget France and Germany too) but they certainly changed by the time the slaves were singing them.

I believe the CCDs do a great representation of this fine, melting pot music.

a45shooter (10 months ago) Now ... THIS ... is American. Not a nation of hyphenated Americans, but a fantastic demonstration of all coming together as one. Not divisive diversity.. But UNITY. United in our common history through music.

Her comments brought a tear to my eye.

Fantastic work. Outstanding. Just when I have given up on my country I can always find one more reason to fight for it.

Raddog127 (10 months ago to say black history is about as segregated as it gets, shouldnt all african american history just be part of american history?
thePolerin (10 months ago) If "american history" actually INCLUDED black history in the schools and took into consideration more of the actual concerns and things that black people have accomplished or had to deal with, you might be right. As it stands however "American History" is dominated by white men.

It's why we need Womens studies and African American studies. White guys aren't the only type of people that have done things, just the only ones we get taught about.

whybelikethat (8 months ago) Wow! Great Job Steve. The music was great and so was the video. Only problem is i will be thinking about this song the rest of the day and won't be able to get it out of my head. That is okay because I do enjoy this type of music.

StaceyKimbrell (8 months ago) Steve Kimbrell just won an regional Emmy for this piece. He produced, wrote and directed "Carolina Chocolate Drops". He is at the award show now and just called. He has been nominated before and won Addy awards before but this is nice. He is a very diverse and talented man.

Good Job Steve!
