Video Summary:
Excerpt from the 2006 Documentary by John Barnard. Featuring and interview with Ethnomusicologist Lynn Whidden.

Here's some information on Metis from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%A9tis_people_(Canada)

"The Métis (Canadian English: [meɪtiː] Canadian French: [meˈtsɪs] Michif: [mɪˈtʃɪf] ) are an indigenous First People of Canada who trace their descent to mixed European and First Nations parentage. The term was historically a catch-all describing the offspring of any such union, but within generations the culture syncretised into what is today a formally recognised aboriginal group, with standing equal to the First Nations and Inuit. Mothers were often Cree, Ojibway, Algonquin, Saulteaux, Menominee, Mi'kmaq or Maliseet.[3] At one time there was an important distinction between French Métis born of francophone voyageur fathers, and the Anglo Métis or Countryborn descended from Scottish fathers.[4] Today these two cultures have essentially coalesced into one Métis tradition."...

camerasglobal (4 months ago) The song is called "Big John McNeil. This clip is a small sample from the 2005 documentary I made for CTV called "Sierra's Song". I have a couple other clips from the movie on my page as well. Thank you everyone for your comments. I'll try and post more soon.

Haven't you lot ever heard of the concept of "lifelong learning" ? Well, here is a fine example, right here. Most entertaining & instructive clip. Very well done !! Congrats, camerasglobal !!

fiddlemusicfan (2 weeks ago) Sierra Noble, the girl fiddling in the documentary Sierra's Song, was one of the performers in the Opening Ceremonies for the 2010 Olympics!
Sierra was one of the six Hero Fiddlers featured in the fiddle and tap section of the Ceremony. Sierra was the Prairie Fiddler.
Congratulations Sierra!
You made us all very proud!
