Shoulder popping is a characteristic of some African American R & B/Hip-Hop dances.

I just noticed at 0:19 in this video that one of the women is patting her chest (pattin juba).

Interesting.

There's a considerable number of Internet hits for "Wollo music". However just about all of the entries that I've found thus far are videos and not text descriptions of  that music and dance/s.   However,  I happened upon field notes written by Lennssa Nemonssa that were posted on the University of Washington Faculty Web Server:
http://faculty.washington.edu/mcmains/dan250/fieldnotesexample1.doc.

The entire document is well worth reading. Here's an excerpt to wet your appetite:

"My grandmother softly moved her shoulders and neck at the same time and circled around little Elias and me.  When a song about wolo (my grandmother’s birthplace) played, the fire ignited by the ecstatic shoulders of Finoteselam (who is from the Gurage region) and my grandmother.  They tried to out dance each other by stumping their feet softly and popping their necks to the rhythm of the song.  I wondered why they were trying to out dance each other. After about half an hour of dancing it was time to rest.  When everyone sat down, I pulled out my laptop and started asking questions.

I turned to my grandmother to ask the first series of questions.
Conversation

Lenssa: Why was it that when that song about wolo came, you eskistad harder than ever?

Grandmother: Because the song was about my birthplace.  It was talking about how sexy the wolo girls are and that wolo is the most beautiful place in Ethiopia.  I was trying to prove to Finote that what the song was saying was right.  On the other hand, Finote was trying to disprove me because she thinks guragee is where all the gorgeous girls are from.  You see, there is a meaning behind how we eskista.  If you look real good on the floor, you are giving your region a good name because it thought you how to move your shoulders real good!  Whenever I hear the name of my city, Oh my do I get energized!...

Lenssa: How do y’all feel about the modernization of eskista?

Berhanu: More changes on the music, the way they move have been Americanized.  Less shaking.  Their clothing is different, that gives a negative message.  There are different eskista depending on the regions because one involves more jumping than shoulder shaking.  Nowadays, because of professionalism, they are trying to make money so they are mixing all regions of eskista to attract more people from different regions.

Lenssa: So Eskista is classified into different types.  Like if you move a certain way, moving your shoulders more than your feet or using the scurf like a wing, it means you are mixing moves from different regions?

Berhanu: Yes.  And also Eskista is based on the songs.  You move fast if you hear am basal and bati.  As soon as you hear that tempo, you get up and immediately shake those shoulders no matter where you are."  ...

The poster of another copy of this same YouTube video found here- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wR5YRQBmJ0E&feature=related- describes this as a traditional Ethiopian song.

A viewer of that video writes this comment:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wollo  indicares that "Wollo was a historical region and province in the northeastern part of Ethiopia, with its capital city at Dessie.[1] The province was named after the Wollo Oromo, who settled in this part of Ethiopia in the 17th century. An older name for Wollo is Lakomelza. Following the liberation of Ethiopia from Italian occupation in 1941, the provinces of Amhara Sayint, Azabo, Lasta, Raya Province, Wag, and Yejju were added to Wollo.[2] A number of peasant rebellions rocked Wollo, which included the Woyane Rebellion in 1943, and revolts of the Yejju Oromo in 1948 and 1970.[3] With the adoption of the new constitution in 1995, Wollo was divided between the Afar Region which absorbed the part of the province that extended into the Afar Depression, the Tigray Region, which annexed the northwestern corner, and the Amhara Region which absorbed the remainder of the province in the Ethiopian highlands."

Azizip17 (27 seconds ago) Thanks for posting this video. Videos such as this help people learn about other cultures even if we can't understand what is being sung. @qaleab, I think mamush1234 use of "sick" means he or she thinks the song is very good (in contemporary USA slang). It's like something that's "bad" is very good.
mamush1234's other comments imply that he or she really likes this song. I do too, but I'd love it if someone would post a summary of what the song is about. Thanks.
