Here's a comment that was posted by a viewer of this video which provides information about this song:
"Alhabib wrote the danceable "Chet Boghassa" ("Women of Boghassa") hours after a 1990 raid on a military post in which he participated: "The raid failed and many people died - maybe 30 or 40 - so I wanted to reassure the women of the village that we would be back," (quoted in Alex Duval-Smith's excellent article "The rhythms of the sand", The Independent, March 5 2004

such a sad story.. "

****
BuenAmor001- Super video. Funk-Blues rocking that African-Arabian groove. Bass just keeps thumpin' along and the lead guitar is lava hot. Smooth vocals. Sweet beat. A week ago I hadn't heard of them. New fan here.

****

****
Zaghareet87-Tinariwen is from Mali (Western Africa), but i love their music too! :D

****
halfchewedtoffee-I think north western would be a better compromise - it reflects more the music and culture of north africa than west africa i think you'd agree. Awesome music!

****
sunflowerssunshowers- What could be better than Tinariwen, I mean, seriously? Nothing, I say, nothing! I'm in love with the Toureg culture because of them. Cest tres beaux musique de le monde!

****
thechiller01-simply splendid

****
upstatelugh -Amazing piece of music...

****
kalashnikov4444- I love this song and I have a great respect for the Imazaghan (Tuareg). But I have a wake up call for liberal Westerners who are fans, this band and the beautiful people shown in this video are Imazaghan (Tuareg) and the Imazaghan still own slaves in 2008. The Imazaghan word for slave is Eklan. For a quick reference check watch videos "Modern Day Slaves - Niger" and "Born Slave".

****
dzlove- kalashnikov, please don't mix things. this band is a Touareg Algerian band and i can assure you that there is no slavery in Algeria under any shape or form. Your comment is irrelevant...I don't see what slavery has to do with Touareg Algerian musicians! Amazigh actually describes several groups from different countries who hold different bagrounds and cultures! They aren't one ethnic group!

IMOUHAG- I believe that these are touareg from northern mali originaly... but a lot of them(touareg of mali) became refugees in algeria because of the opression they suffer from other ethnic groups in that country as well as niger...I shall confirm their true origines in the coming month as I am off to the algerian sahara for another treking holiday with my brother touaregs(imouhag).the only official recognition this great band had was when they played with santana in montreux, listen to his comments...

****

IMOUHAG - confirmed they are originaly from mali... ibrahim(bribor) comes from kidal..... I am lookink for another targui bluesman known as amar sandy from algeria can anyone help with that

****
inidkane -In fact they are from Mali. Precisely from Kidal north of Mali. Ibrahim the Boss of the band learned music in Tamanrasset south of Algeria. As Mina (the lonly girl of the band). Boghassa is a village north of Kidal. There was a strugle between touaregs and Malian army, there. Chet Boghassa means "girls of Boghassa) ;-))

****
RainPoetry- If you want others' respect, I don't think you should term it an "insult" to be termed another race. We just need to correct people. You receive the respect that you put out..
