The Mogwana Dance Troupe is a group of professional artistes based in Gaborone, Botswana.
They specialise in traditional music, song and dance of indigenous ethnic groups of Botswana and the southern Africa in general.
This dance is commonly known as Phathisi, refering to the pieces of skin and rags tied to the legs which are slapped to sound like a drum. It is generally performed in happy times, such as at harvest, by herdboys.

niletoo - Doesn't this remind you of other dances, from other countries, it's so unifying, to see that some of the same kinds of dance steps turn up all over the world, independent of one another.

ssmafu-Testesgirl you are very right -- I saw something on IMX in 2003 in Raleigh North Carolina about Tswana dancers, it was so good but short. I have been searching ever since I can not find it. But still this is good. If i can help let me know.
