daovee1 - The best thing that could happen to a song is Ella Fitzgerald. That says it all.

****
joi124 - this is ridiculous how incredible she sounds o my gosh I love it ! she is so meticulous in her tones and intunation it's amazing. I love how she isnt' scared to hold notes beyond their "pretty point" the point inwhich the vibrato ends and the awkwardly long stent begins! But she masters it

****
Tinaa4- The good days when people could actually sing instead of all the voice editing crap we get nowadays

****
ESPERANZA850417- anybody has idea about the historical context of the song's composing?or what's the song trying to express?i mean it really feels sad....

****
deisceartach- It comes from the first American opera, "Porgy and Bess," which is set in Charleston, SC amid a community of impoverished black fishermen and their families. The song is sung as a lullaby by one of the women to her infant. It was originated by Dubose Heyward, the author of the novella from which the opera was drawn, and fleshed out by George and Ira Gershwin for the production.

****

mca1218 - Ella & Gershwin... a combination guaranteed to make you shiver and tear up at the same time...no one could do a torch ballad like this lady. 1:42 is a golden moment- "one of these mornings, you're gonna rise up singing..."
