MagicBoy241- Great video, great music!
****
dylhomme999- hendrix you r the best ever
****
RFC1873CFC1905 - a good few of the lyrics you put on the video are wrong, otherwise its a good video, props to ya.
****
bassetc- i didn't write the subtitles or shoot the video either for that matter but thanks anyway:)
****
youtoobeiz4loosers - a truly great version!
****
12nmargi- my hero at his best
****
Ohioankev - Wow, seriously I've always loved this song, way before it was featured on BSG. One of my all time favorite songs. FYI it's a cover... Bob Dylan wrote it ... but Hendrix totally makes it his own.
****
DigimonFan1- I first heard this song on Battlestar Galactica. It was made into The mysterious Music that ultimatly led the Fleet home and was played over the end of the show.
****
LolzNdolz-5 I really love the original, but I would say Hendrix perfected it,
****
ebisu2001- Jimi shows how to get the maximum out of the song of someone else. Genius !!
****
gaylewindedesign- Awesome song, but why print the lyrics if you don't know them yourself. Christ, it's distracting. Musically, it's the best live version out there.
****
jimilutionary101- no its not a misprint hendrix usually switched some lyrics for live shows like in purple haze he would sometime's say "scuse me while i kiss this guy"and point at mitch
****
MaxiTaxi26 - That's a Beautiful Solo Man !! Loving that at Scream !!
****
MrMoggyman - The Watchtower is a Bob Dylan song. Jimi's interpretation of that song has never been bettered. Jimi was the most influential electric guitarist of my generation. He pushed guitar playing forward light years. He was far ahead of his time. Jimi's loss was more than tragic, it was monumental to both his fans and the music industry generally. He remains in my heart forever, and can only be described as nothing less than a musical genius. To this day I miss him.
****
ebisu2001- Exactly my thinking ; )
****
dassenishere- Love the sound on the Strat ! =D
****
init4mojo - LOVE JIMI, ALWAYS & FOREVER! Nobody can make a guitar say the things that he does;)
****
PokerJoker3- This whole 1970 Atlanta concert has ben sitting in the vaults for decades, MCA or Dagger records needs to remix it in 5.1 and put it out in DVD!!!!
****
rksobers- feel the flow
almost magical
****
papapupunana - incridible really... in 1968 this.. and bob must be proud that jimmy played it ...

useapen- Yea, i heard somewhere that Bob Dylan prefered Jimi's Version over his own
****
tenkako- Bob Dylan even said after he heard Jimi's version he has only performed it that way. He also said when he plays this song strangely it feels like a tribute to Jimi.
****
rockybehri- hahah everybody does
****
Jakeshark - One of the few instances in which the cover is better than the original. Both are great though.
****
TCOCharlesDexterWard- Legendary
****
nik3887 - Most of the time I agree, the original is usually always better. But not in this case man, Hendrix improved this song dramatically.
****
JBeatty17- Why is this song so amazing? It combines the songwriting of the greatest songwriter of all time (Dylan) with the instrumentals of the most technically proficient rock band in history (TJHE).
****
fluegiraffe09- I love Jimi Hendrix"'s music it's friggin mind blowing but they are all so complicated to learn because they're almost all improvised. but that's what makes them so historic.
****
inthecresents- yeah i like live better, this had to be close to the end. maybe one of his last performances?
****
xzz0195- I didn't know this version existed. I've always loved the studio version, this shows that very little was added to the studio version. In fact this shows how great he was, doing singing while maintaining excellent rhythm guitar and lead work.
****
KewazingaBabinga- 40 years later still MAGIC
****
kubla777 - This is no. 41 on the all time list (Rolling Stone I believe) but no. 1 on mine
****
thismoment23- now THIS IS A REAL SUPERSTAR,...his music will live forever,...i first heard him when i was 16,...thirty years later i still get high on his musice,..amazing. Thank you for posting.
****
IneedaHuncke- Let this be written in stone for all time. There will never ever be another Jimi Hendrix. In my opinion he was, is and ever will be the single greatest of his genre. There will never ever be another guitarist like him but his cool keeps us trying. Imitation is the very highest form of flattery and many want to imitate him. A tragedy. A loss of talent. A life lost still mourned to this day. May his memory, legacy and history reign on. James Marshall Hendrix rest in peace. He "dug" the guitar.
****
QualeQualeson- Who subtitled this? It's wrong and not just a little.
****
playgirlc-that should be "none of them along the line know what any of it is worth". it's a really important point. :o)
cant stand bob dylan but this song is brilliant esp when done by hendrix
****
Montebrownworld- I love ya Jimi, but you never could get the lyrics right to this song. Your versions are still the best though.
****
playgirlc-also "this is not our fate" and it's "princes kept the view".
it's also "while women came and went" (jimi got that wrong, not whomever is subtitling).
i'm only pointing this out as i'm studying dylan's lyrics at the moment and a lot of what he writes is either really opaque or the references are quite deep so you need to dig at them. and as much as i hate dylan it's worthwhile doing so, i've got a lot to write about this song!
****
deluxdiva - u know playgirlc, it is not important at all, u of all people are not the one to correct or point out anything Jimmy did to this song, it was only part of the improved finished product!!!!!!
****
neoromantism- all along the watchtower seems to be a song about changing society, destroying the established order.
I don't get while you hate dylan though, he's a fantastic songwriter, even if his support to Israel is discussible.
By the way, i've seen him live recently (dylan not hendrix) and yes he plays it a bit the way jimi did, but in a much darker way.
****
thehomefront - i've got all of jimi's live music and most of it sounds like hes playing with no effort, its out of key, it sounds scruffy and he just wants to get it done and go home.
i also know that he is great but when clapton plays, he sounds good all and everytime he plays.
****
GAVINFWJONES- @thehomefront jimi hendrix upstaged clapton and played claptons songs better, then clapton came of stage shaking and said " you didnt tell me how bloody good he was did you" so there you go. eric clapton is one of the greatest guitarists these days though.
****
mytube1349- @thehomefront
the first thing Jimi did upon arrival in England was blowing away Eric Clapton so that he couldn't even light his cigarette after that. he was laying in the taxi moaning as witnesses recall.
****
joeRAND0M- @thehomefront actually when hendrix was first becoming big he asked to jam with cream on stage, and he did and in the middle of hendrix's playing eric clapton walked off stage
****
arafat24- @thehomefront if you knew your facts on clapton... you would know that one faithful day when jimi got up on stage and killed clapton made guitar history
****
thehomefront - very poor performance. he played out of tune, out of timing and out of his head, most of his performances sound like this. he is not what you would call a good live player, clapton will always put in a good solid consistant performance, where as hendrix just sounded srappy. makes me laugh when people say he paved the way, what a joke
****
dalmanation- @thehomefront Jimmy loved his drugs - yeah. Clapton is a robot now. A very talented one. I thought this performance was pretty good, none of his performances sound the same - he improvises continuously - one of his great attributes. The recording was pretty average in this case. Jimmy was a true pioneer and his music has and will continue to stand the test of time. So what if you don't rate it !. Call me any insults you want - you've got nothing
****
dannywox969- maybe in your opinion he's not as good as others but for some people he's really inspiring so go listen to your kind of music and we'll listen to ours. peace.
****
mytube1349- @thehomefront
you're wrong on numerous accounts. first off, having difficulty singing a song while already playing simultaneous Rhythm and Lead guitar melodies does NOT dictate "how little he thought of his fans."
not to mention, he didn't even write the song.
either way, you can't ignore the Elephant in the room...that performance was masterful and you aren't as quick to point that out as you are to attack Jimi based on whatever insecurity you have.
****
r92cab - you are just jealous, that performance was breathtaking and you know it, people go see jimi Hendrix to appretiate his talent of playing the guitar like the god he is and coming up with those AMAZING solos and being able to sing at the same time ( like the high pitch in the end) that you and everybody else who wants to can only DREAM of doing, nuff said...
****
pantherpawed- The master at work - wonderful to watch!
****
ncleve -l..I was there...July 4th, 1070..it was called Atlanta Pop Festival,,,but was held in Byron Georgia about 60 miles south of Atlanta at a car racetrack.... I saw him 3 times...once in Columbus Ohio when he opened for the Monkies !!!........ but at this festival he was brilliant !!!! simply brilliant
****
ElxFarell - What nobody knows: His first instrument was the harmonica. The first guitar he got had just one string and cost 5 dollar. Two years later he plays in his first badn the velvetone.Ask me if want to know something about him. vor 1 s
****
strattdo- only jimi could use an instrument wrong and make it sound so good.
****
zephviolent2003- you all tend to forget Hendrix not only brought playing guitar in an orthodox way, but he the first black man to really bring Marshalls and fenders guitars into the forfront, he exposed these brands to the world, and fused blues and rock into one on one instrument , the electric guitar. That was indie for the day, he was an original. He is the most copied musician ever, thats a fact, but no one can sound like him and never will.
****
zephviolent2003- He also was the first to expose effect pedals as you know it, no one else did at the time, roger mayer his effect guy invented the octavia, you play a fuzz face cause of him and the wah and rotovibe and univibe, he brought these to the forfront. No other musician during his time has such an influence in musical equipment and tone. He had tone . If you know what tone is , what musicians have tone now, none, its all sterile playing with a couple chords. He was an innovator for the guitar .
****
brianlee89- Jimi's sound isn't about singing or playing in the perfect pitch, just listen to his dirty nasty guitar voodoo chile purple haze, it's pure rock and roll not American idol
****
Higginz99 - I agree with all what zephviolent2003 said.
****
kudda71-Classic Hendrix!!!!!!!!!!!!
****
xxthe420bossxx- Hendrix at his BEST! R.I.P. JIMI
****
TheAngus2009- Who knows how much better he would have become? He really didn't need to in my mind. Still, and always, amazing. Don't know how many others 40 years on we'll still be saying this about, if any.
****
Fobetc - There's something beautiful in Jimi playing. Some absolute, perfect joy.
****
peopleperson57 - One of the things people dont get is that it doesn't matter if you can play a song like this on gutair hero on expert, Hendrix created this way using his gutair that no one ever though of before. He is and will always will be one of the greatest gutair player that ever lived.
****
baxtrom- Some people believe musical quality is measured in how fast a guitarist can pull off a solo, and some guys do it really fast like di Meola et al. And still that doesn't fascinate me half as much as Hendrix's ability to connect to a vast, unexplored musical dimension and doing it in the finest ways, for example during Voodoo Child (Slight Return) at Woodstock. Truly a Master of the art of the improvisers.
"Stone Free" on The Jimi Hendrix Concerts CD is also amazing. If I could play like that.
****
Lateralus8808 - I always like listening to live versions of Jimi because it has the raw sound not cleaned up by studio recording.
****
williamwitte-Jimi Hendrix was an inspiring person to watch. He did things that others had not dreamed of.
I loved his music then and I still love it now!
His music will live on forever!
Peace brother . You were our Hero!
****
wart125- Considered by many as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, Hendrix is a GOD! Plus this is my favorite song of his :P
****
Guitarstring187 - jimi said that he didn't like doing this song. it was a hard arrangement and it was mostly supposed to be a studio song but he got allot of requests for it.
****
bmafolabi - Those truly great are beyond common mortals' interpretation and understanding of life and death. How many people can you remember who lived 10 years ago, 20 years ago, 30 years ago and, like Jimi, 40 years ago. When 50 years have passed by since Jimi exited who would remember you? Jimi is immortal. He lives forever in the heart of those who know love. As the lyrics to All Along the Watchtower reads,"There are many here among us, who think this life is but a joke." Are you
