****

Amazing this is almost 30 years ago.

****

****
katieladybug17 - I got some great improv ideas form the trumpet solo thanks... I am playing the one arranged by Dave Wolpe w/ my high school jazz band and I have the awesome trumpet improv solo...Band geeks rule 4 ever!!!!!

****
musiciv-It's a flugelhorn.

****
detaono- the Dave Wolpe arrangement wrote it for 2nd trumpet, optional flugelhorn.

****
cw3le - This is impressive!

****
screamfff- This is one of my all-time favorite albums.

Chuck's music is timeless. Bravo for the video!!!

****
elfunksta - Pure brilliance!

****
Vibes4me - MY GOSH Grant Giessman was so young on Guitar.. Don't forget about James Jailbait Bradley on Drums and Charles Meeks

****
sdingeswho- Hi, Vibes4me --- this whole [Expletive deleted] band is just *stellar*, and I can't even think of singling anyone out as standing out above the rest. By the way, isn't it a shame this clip doesn't include Meeks' wonderful rendition of the lyrics at the beginning? Sends chills up my spine, and *so* much better than the recording that is actually used in the movie!

****
keaneshaped25 - What a great song to just jam to, if you've got the chops for it. I'm a big Mangione fan, but I love how listening to him makes you listen to all of these other great players. He's played with Grant Griessman, Steve Gadd, and didn't he do some stuff with Maynard Furguson? I love to watch him conduct. Very 70's DCI drum major style, no?

****
sdingeswho- Hi, keaneshaped . . . actually, I'd say that the 70s DCI drum-majors were "very Chuck-Mangione-style" in their conducting LOL! I think that's the way the chicken-and-egg question works, in this case, although Chuck was very aware of how popular his stuff was in drum-corps, I'm sure.

****
disciple604- I totally played that flugel horn solo my junior year in high school with our jazz band. I love that solo so much.

****
mamabooty0910- i love this song!!..we played in high school with the jazz band of course nd i just can't get enough of it!!!!

****
Kajayacht - I have to play this song for my audition for my college's basketball band

****
greedycompany - I played this song this year with my college marching band. I love it

****
liman42 - Great version. Definitely one of my all time favorite jazz tunes. Just one thing? what happened to the lyrics? I can't play the horn but I sing this cut all the time, very well I might add.

****
DeathBrand- there were lyrics???

****
puppypal41- fantastic music been listining since i was 5, im now 35 so he must be doining something right!there are no words too discribe how great he really is!!!!!!

Thank you Chuck!

****
blackprince206 - Chuck Mangione and his saxaphonist Chris Bodalla made me want to play my saxaphone. I used to play his albums and blow my saxaphone and my brother's trumpet along with his songs. It helped me understand music. I will always be greatful for his music. Just beautiful.

****
metricprime- Such an awesome song with good chord progressions, making it awesome for solos.

****
hawkeyeC4- I have heard this piece thousand times, but every time i hear it seems like its the first time...nothing comes close

****
leatherlips- The sound on this video is from a second generation VHS copy which was originally recorded in the late '70s at the slowest speed (SLP). A new DVD release would come from the master copy from PBS and would therefore have a much superior sound quality.

****
Saxplaya03- This song is smooth and intense.

****
BloggerMusicMan- I just saw him and his band play at the Oakville Centre of the Performing Arts. Without a doubt one of the best concerts I've seen this year, and probably one of the best jazz shows I've ever seen. All six of them (especially Brandon Wright, the sax and flute player) were groovy, tight and flat out brilliant throughout the entire night.

****
XSV15 - Love this song, this is our jazz band's "theme" song. We play it every year at just about every concert, everyone loves it, awesome tune.

****

****
XxMANKITTYXx - what is that insturment in 7:39 , i honestly don't know what it is but it sounds great

****
spideratboy- thats a soprano sax. A lot of people get it confused as a clarinet.

****
taximan55 - Chuck is the best fluegel horn player but do you know that the guitar player here is Grant Giessman he doe's the Score's for the TV show "Two and a Half Men" with Charlie Sheen

****
macotobar- wow!!! it´s amazing!!! that must be the kind of music angels play in the court of god

****
saxandgames- 7:14 wow oh wow oh wow

****
saxandgames- This is why I get pissed of when they call Kenny G a jazz musician.

****
Stormchaser2be- I remember playing this in Marching BAnd a few years ago...

****
PicklesandFrogs- We played this song in my 8th grade jazz band. That was like 6 years ago. Fun song.

****
Paper192 - Chuck Mangione looks like a balding Jesus...

****
scoutfilmmaker- he really does.

he's like.

preaching very... strongly to his orchestra.

or getting visions from God.

now THAT is what you call getting into the song :D.

incredible though.

****
diablo988 - I saw Chuck about 23 years ago in Fort Collins, CO. He was truly awesome. The band behind him is especially stunning live. I remember the drummer just knocked my socks off. You can hear some of it hear, but live it is sublime.

****

****
signupandmakemoney - I love Children of Sanchez. I've never seen this version though.

****
knightflyte- @signupandmakemoney

This was shown in 1979 (maybe 78) on PBS. It's a concert from the Wolftrap Stage in Washington DC. At that time there wasn't a hotter ticket than CM. As far as I know it's never been aired since.

It's highly worth seeing, but alas it's never been out on DVD. Hence, Leather Lips' website to promote the release of the concert and other here to for unreleased CDs.
